Two giant pandas will be heading to Zoo Atlanta in the United States as part of a Sino-US agreement on giant panda conservation. The China Wildlife Conservation Association said the future Atlanta pandas are male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang. Both were born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Under the agreement between the association and Zoo Atlanta, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang will be in the US for 10 years. Zoo Atlanta’s original giant panda agreement with China, originated in 1999 and concluded in 2024, resulted in a partnership under which seven offspring were born to the original pair of Lun Lun and Yang Yang. “Zoo Atlanta is delighted and honoured to yet again be trusted as stewards of this treasured species and to partner with the China Wildlife Conservation Association on the continued conservation and research efforts that are the most important outcomes of this cooperation,” its president and CEO Raymond King said in a statement.
